How do ice ages look like?

When i think about ice ages i picture in my mind a place filled with snow and ice, very cold of course and a lot of sickness going around. As i said in my last post. There will be lots of ice sheets. In my point of view there is a lot of famine going around. Not enough food being produced. It is in the negatives so it is dangerous being outside for too long for the fear of frostbite.
